Weep

I stand as a woman

Weep as a girl

To a world that is none the wiser

Fragile, polished

Pristine and yours

Charmed by this divisor

What is worse than a girl?

What had to be done

For our blood to be tarnished and tainted

Our cheeks must be flushed

Our hands must be dainty

And our smiles are pristinely painted

Yes, I’m a rose

Perfect and fair

Brush acid on my petals

 Glaze them with care

I smile as I shrivel

My beauty, my worth

Burning to shreds

Like the stars, like the Earth

I will smile if you look at me

 Smile if you see

Before I wilt away

I may not be gone

But I know where it ends

When I make excuses for you,

Your thoughts, your friends

You’d do the same as them

If you thought I wouldn’t know

I don’t know where it’d stop

But I know where I’d go

Dead as a ghost town, dead as the ashes

Dead as my sisters who rewrote the passage

I will have done nothing, complying to you

If it’s my will you want, it’s mine to use
