Or So it Seems

Laughter, laughter, laughing at her,

Her clothes, her skin, I’m just superior,

Superior to all, superior with glory, but superior to myself? Now, that’s a different story.

Laughter gets louder, checks get brighter,

Only a few more words till she’s left in the fire.

“Oh how ugly you are” the words cut her deep,

Stitches are temporary, scars are to keep.

She runs, runs far, far away from the crowd,

She covers her ears, the thoughts stay loud.

Here I am, home once again,

Home to parents, I listen as I crawl into bed.

Making fun of that girl, it doesn’t make me happy,

It doesn’t bring me joy, it only makes me feel more crappy.

I pick up my mirror and touch my face,

The face I’ve been trapped in,

Should I leave without a trace?

My forehead is big, my lips are too small,

Yet here i am the most confident of all,

Or so it seems
