Ode to Otis

In a similar vein to his brother, Bowie, Otis is named after legendary singer and songwriter Otis Redding. And he certainly lives up to the name. While not the most talkative thing on the planet, his voice is loud, memorable, and packed with emotion. Often, it can be a bit jarring to hear it in the middle of the night.

Unlike his majestic cry, his behavior is less flattering. Despite having an auto-filtering drinking fountain, I’ve caught him dunking his head in the toilet to quench his thirst on numerous occasions. Sometimes, either as a result of his large list of allergies or due to his own overindulgence, he throws up sometimes. Never one to pass up a meal, my family has had to stop him from re-eating his or his brother’s meals off the floor numerous times, even though it takes care of the cleanup for us.

I think that my cat Otis is one of the weirdest members of my family.
