My love for you is as temperamental as the moon
Waxing, waning
Full of heart
Empty and heart broken
And yet the moon is also stupidly dependable
With each month there is a set course
Never faltering.
Just when I think I’ve had enough and sworn you off
You creep your way back into my waxing crescent
Surrounding my moon with gleaming stars
Your honeysuckle lies filling me up
Till I’m whole again
But when the moon is full the stars disappear
And without the stars
Your darkness surrounds me
Eating away at my waning gibbous
Till I’m back where I started
Although when you look up at the night sky,
A new moon is when you can see the most stars.
