Maybe Next Time

Words and Photo by Eros B

Romeo and Juliet except this time,

Juliet isn't interested,

so in the interest of Romeo's dignity

Romeo realizes just how fidgety he gets when his best friend Mercutio’s around,

So instead of going after his forbidden love juliet,

Romeo knows Lord Montague would get even more upset about this one,

But hey,

What he doesn't know can't hurt him.

Macbeth except this time,

He goons Lady Macbeth and sends her to inpatient,

Impatiently waiting for his wife back

For his wife to be ‘fixed’

Without any sickness in her mind

And maybe a few less homicidal tendencies.

The Taming of the Shrew except this time,

Kate takes a pin out of that dreaded hat Petruchio forces on her head,

stabs him in the neck to collect Baptista’s dowry all for herself, as cowardly petruchio lays on the ground

With all his sense of acting proud out his system,

I guess the taming school’s closed.

You and me except this time,

We don't define our worth on childish or abusive love, or what anyone else thinks,

We laugh until we cry

We cry until we laugh

Because the binary of tragedy and comedy go hand in hand

Shakespeare taught us that.

And Shakespeare taught us to text back fast so our lover doesn't succumb to a cyanide pill

And end up on top a hill six feet under all because of a little blunder and not pushing ‘send’

What weird little lessons he’d bend into all of his plays

It’s a shame most people read yet never pay attention.
