He's got braces and a steady grin

Used to talk to birds like they were kin

Now hes got a girl and ive got school

But he’s the one I call when things aren't cool

We trade secrets like trading cards

We laugh like we don't have our scars

Knows my heart but never walked away

He’s the kind of friend who's here to stay

And I don't say it nearly enough

But you lift me up when life gets tough

You’re getting me far, like comets in the sky

Like letters I read when I need to cry

Your the steady in the storms, the light in the dark

You’re the reason i still chase every spark

I'm not walking along, not falling apart

You’re helping me to get this far

She’s got rhythm and a steady soul

We write songs in glass and rock and gold

She’s fell for a girl with eyes like spring

And I see her bloom, hear her spirit sing

We talk ghosts and halls we used to roam

She plays chords that feel like coming home

Our bands a mess but its magic too

She’s the mirror who still reflects what's true

And I am just right here to say

That you’re the reason I'm here today

You’re getting me far, like miles on road

The reason why I still glow

You’re the light to my dark

Why I still chase the spark

I’m not walking alone, not falling apart

You’re helping me get this far

Red hair in a place that feels all wrong

Boarding school days that drag too long

I hate the halls, the silence, the rules

I miss our laughs, I miss feeling cool

I write your names in the margins each day

You’re the home I need, not miles away

You’ve got me this far, like stars in the night

I’m here when you need me, if you need a shoulder to cry on

You’re here for me if I need to talk

The reason I still write these songs

I’m not walking alone, not falling apart

You’ve gotten me this far

Gotten me this far
