Free At Last

By Clara O

Free at last with feet that can move off this lush grass that was never special to begin with Out of the hellish grades, flying away on blackened wings that have been beaten down for too long The barricading bubble now beautifully broken

A satisfying pop gives way to breaths of freedom Inhaling all that was removed from the seeds of doubt planted by the ones most unexpected Air trapped in heaving lungs that have been compressed by an unmoving rib cage Tassels flipped from one side the cap to the other, representations of wandering into a new chapter

Surroundings nothing short of stressful, filled with the people that are friends, acquaintances, enemies Unsolicited negative energy that usually follows with every step taken has suddenly been lifted Walking away from a life deemed many times not worth living, but progress has been made Wading through turbulent storms, an escape has been found Time, effort, struggle Seemingly useless words to be stuck in the future no matter how much closer that date of peace came into view Now, it’s here staring into wide eye faces as jubilant chattering is heard in the heart of all moving on
