A Poem by Maggie Munday O.
Rising from the soft earth, greeting new days,
Stems reaching towards the sun’s welcoming rays.
With the poise of a monarch, the sunflowers stand,
Tranquil and lovely, proud and grand.
Within each blossom, a seedy brown core,
From which radiates bold yellow galore.
Petals, soft and dainty as a maiden’s gown,
Frame each flow’r like a gleaming golden crown.
This beauty sprouts up in row after row,
Leaves and buds intertwine as they grow.
All is bathed in the warm glow of sunbeams,
A sunflower field right out of my dreams.
