did you ever

did you ever think about how we would feel

when you left us out in the middle of the field 

with the sun being the only one watching over us 

raised under the rule of Isis

i wasn’t prepared for it’s warmth,

but it welcomed me with open arms.

at first i swore and scorned as i was burned by the heat

then i felt safe, warm, and free from all harms

i learned to breathe with the sway of the trees 

bathe in the river when i skimmed my knees 

i wiped my tears when my eyes began to cry 

i learned to be present and to put my faith in the sky
