Crescendo

What is left to say

When I have felt those words

Out of existence

When truth isn’t trust

And only believing makes it so?

Love is both a blessing and a curse

All-encompassing

You can fit it in a single word

But will you?

Maybe this is the only

Irreversible curse.

That we love

Somehow, lost

Against all odds

Fighting for what we think we want:

To be understood,

To be seen truly

Not for the facade we give to others

Like a most deceiving gift—

The feeling when

The earth underneath your feet

Almost seems to

Shift.

The only thing descriptive

Of everchanging emotions,

A crescendo

A tidal wave

Endlessly battering the floodgates,

The walls of the heart

That can never really take it all

And weaken until

Life’s decrescendo.
