You see me smiling from ear to ear  

and all the laughter that you hear 

makes you think that I am fine, but 

I 

AM 

NOT  

OKAY 

When we hang out  

and talk all about  

the fun things in our lives 

that makes you think that I am fine, but 

I  

AM  

NOT 

OKAY 

When you see me crying in the corner  

you think to yourself, “who could’ve hurt her?” 

you almost walk away, but then you realize that truly 

I  

AM  

NOT 

OKAY 

You check in on me later that day 

to make sure that I’m okay. 

You ask me so. 

I tell you no. 

You sit with me. 

Even when I cry. 

Even when I don’t know why. 

“Don’t worry,” you say 

“Everything will be okay. 

There’s nothing we can’t do  

because guess what? I love you! 

“We’ll work together, you and I. 

All you have to do is try.” 

“Soon enough, you will know 

That even when you’re at an all-time low 

There is still hope, so please don’t let go.” 

And then I say, "I'll lean on you cause you’re my friend 

We’ll be together till the very end.”  

Even when you go away, 

I’ll tell you that now I AM OKAY.
